How to Create your Own Committee

To create your own advisory committee, begin by looking within your own membership. The best board members are those who are already “sold” on the concept of exercise and fitness as a way of life. You’ll want your committee to be made up of 50 percent club member physicians/specialists and 50 percent outside physicians/specialists. The diversity will help with your programming and will avoid a preponderance of “member complaints” — both from the board complaining about the club, rather than giving constructive advice, and from additional members who want to be on the committee (you can point to your ratio as a reason to limit who can be on at any one time). Special Education Aquatics

Programming for an untapped market can be very rewarding. St. Joseph’s Aerofit discovered a community need for recreational and fitness activities for special education students and adults, and developed Special Education Aquatics to provide them with fun fitness activities. The success of the program can be measured not only by the club’s financial gains, but by the excitement and gratitude of the participants. (more…)
